Dr. Sebastian Detlefsen joined Evonik in 2015 as R&D lab head for process chromatography. Since then, he has built competencies in chromatography within the Health Care business line. From 2021, Sebastian has taken on the role as group head for process chromatography. He has over 10 years’ experience in the development and scale-up of pharmaceutical chromatographic processes. Sebastian is a chemical engineer and gained his first chromatography experience at the Max-Planck-Institute for complex technical systems in Magdeburg, Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany, focusing on the integration of chromatographic and membrane processes.
