Michael holds a M.Sc. in (bio)chemistry, as well as a Ph.D. in microbiology, from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He continued his academic career as a postdoctoral researcher at universities within the Netherlands and Belgium, and (co-)authored over 35 research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Subsequently he moved on to apply his knowledge of life sciences in consulting, and at the Dutch Food Safety Authority. For the past 10 years, Michael has been working at Wacker Biotech, first as a Process Engineer and currently as head of the BioProcess Development department. He is directly involved in technology transfer, process development and improvement, scale-up, validation, and troubleshooting of Wacker Biotech’s customers’ biopharmaceutical production processes. Furthermore, he coordinates the activities around mRNA and LNP process development and GMP manufacturing between the different global Wacker Biotech sites.
