Day 07: 452km of Scenic Stops and Out-of-the-Box History

Get Comfortable, It's Going to be a Long Ride

After two action-packed days of Mad Max mayhem, we hit the road again for Day 07, heading toward our next stop – Canberra. Given Australia’s vast distances, this leg of the journey marks the most driving between stops on Road to the Max: Australia. After collaborating as a team on our video footage, we set off on our 452-kilometer drive.

Hanging Out with Australia's Most Notorious Bushranger

To break up the long hours driving, we enjoyed a few tourist attractions along the way and stopped in Glenrowan at the Ned Kelly Museum & Homestead to learn more about the famous bushranger. Ned Kelly was best known for his last stand in 1880, where he engaged in a gunfight while wearing homemade metal armor. As the leader of the Kelly Gang, he became a symbol of resistance against colonial authorities in Australia. Keeping true to road trip spirit, we then trekked six hours to the Holbrook Submarine Museum—because who wouldn’t be curious about a submarine parked in the middle of the countryside? Stay tuned for the next leg of our journey: Sydney!
