Thermo Fisher Scientific Instruments Recognized by SelectScience

PHILADELPHIA /PRNewswire/ -- Pittcon 2019 -- Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced it has received the Scientists' Choice Award for the Best New Separations Product of 2018 based on the votes of the global community of SelectScience readers and contributors, as well as special recognition for the company's leadership in the application and development of cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) in life sciences as part of its ongoing collaboration with Diamond Light Source, the UK's national synchrotron and one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world.

SelectScience announced the Thermo Scientific Vanquish Duo UHPLC System as the winner of Best New Separations Product of 2018 at an awards ceremony held during the 2019 Pittsburgh Conference & Exposition (Pittcon 2019) at the Pennsylvania Conference Center, Philadelphia.

The global community of SelectScience readers also celebrated Thermo Fisher's contribution to the development and application of cryo-EM technology through its collaboration with Diamond Light Source, including the opening of a dedicated national electron bio-imaging centre (eBIC). The eBIC was also noted by Nobel Laureate Dr. Richard Henderson as part of his video interview with The Scientists' Channel, which received the award for Analytical Science Video of the Year.

Additionally, at a separate ceremony held on February 5, 2019, during the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) International Conference and Exhibition, SelectScience announced that the Scientists' Choice Award for the Best New Drug Discovery & Development Product of 2018 went to the Thermo Scientific Q Exactive UHMR Quadrupole-Orbitrap Mass Spectrometer.
