Maryland is not just crab cakes and football, it's life sciences
Maryland was rich in meetings and content for the team on The Road to 50 States. This meant they spent the majority of the day in The Old Line State, with a quick dip into the nation's capital for one meeting in DC and a late run through Delaware to their overnight stop in New Jersey. But Maryland dominated, and in the course of a busy Day 46, they met representatives from RoosterBio, Vigene Biosciences, IDT Biologika, Destination DC and 21159 Pharma. This pretty much covered the gamut from life science industrials and viral vectors to general healthcare and outsourcing, which was no real surprise as Maryland is home to more than 3,000 companies across the sector as a whole, along with the FDA and Johns Hopkins University. This didn't leave too much chance to enjoy the state's extensive mix of mountains, historical monuments and Chesapeake Bay coastline, but they did their best, including getting some aerial views of its splendor with the drone.
