On the trail of more insight into life science trends in Appalachia
West Virginia and Virginia were on the agenda on Day 45 of The Road to 50 States and that meant mountains – the team were hoping for mountains more insight into the next big thing in pharma. Starting in the state capital of Charleston, West Virginia, they had a meeting with the Secretary of Economic Development and former Senate President, Mitch Carmichael. They set off on their picturesque drive through the mountains to head to Mount Jackson in neighboring Virginia, where they had an appointment at StageBio, a histopathology specialist. They stopped off for some rural fun and drone footage showed the unspoiled beauty of the landscape. After the visit in Virginia, they turned northeast and were headed to Maryland, where they would stop for the night in Germantown near Gaithersburg. However, a mishap saw the Tesla shut down and refuse to start. Fortunately, a service phone call and a remote reboot got them going to the destination.
